And Rokosan, as a traditional and long-standing partner of SZZ, certainly could not be missing!
Its 22nd edition filled the exhibition space with fragrance, delighted the eyes of many visitors from both amateurs and the professional public, and with 1,225 presented samples, it was among the more numerous.
The speeches of the guests focused on the contribution of fruit growing to the development of agri-food industry in Slovakia and also on the positive effects of fruit on the health of Slovaks.
The chairman of the Slovak Fruit Growers' Union, Marián Varga (in the photo in conversation with Marek Szöke, sales manager of Rokosan s.r.o.), evaluated this year's growing season. It was again marked by intense spring frosts, which significantly reduced the overall growing results of fruit growers: "We have somewhat higher yields than last year, but we are still at 55% of the yield volume compared to the long-term average," said Marián Varga. He also accepted on behalf of Plantex s.r.o. the award for the best Slovak fruit grower with the PINOVA variety.
Professor Ivan Hričovský highlighted the positive effects of apple consumption on the human body. Despite this, we still lag behind the doctors' recommendations for apple consumption. While in the last 5 years we have consumed 16 - 22 kg per person annually, health professionals recommend eating up to 32 kg of apples per year.
We will add only the essential – the most beautiful apple in Slovakia this year was grown by Václav Linda from Kláštor pod Znievom. His Bohemia variety apple was awarded by the jury led by engineer Eduard Jakúbek, chairman of SZZ.
